For Nick Lazzaro, public service has always been personal. He grew up in a family where serving others was simply part of life. His father spent 36 years as a social worker, his brother is a special education teacher, his grandfather served as a Worcester police officer, and his grandmother worked in the Worcester Public Schools. Their example taught Nick that service can take many forms, but it always starts with showing up for people and the community around you.

Nick carried that commitment into public service as soon as he could vote. In 2020, he was appointed and later elected to the Millbury School Committee at 19. After graduating from the College of the Holy Cross with a degree in Political Science, Nick continued his education by pursuing his MBA at Boston College. In 2024, he ran for the Millbury Board of Selectmen in a contested five-candidate race and was elected as the top vote-getter.

On the Select Board, Nick has focused on economic development, stronger constituent services, and greater transparency in local government. He believes public officials should be accessible, engaged, and accountable to the people they represent. By establishing the Millbury Farmers Market, hosting regular office hours, and creating new opportunities for residents to provide feedback, Nick has worked to make local government more responsive and approachable. His six years in local government have also given him firsthand experience with municipal & education budgets, economic development initiatives, and addressing the challenges communities face when state policy falls short.

That same commitment to service has shaped Nick’s career as a small business owner. At 18, he founded Nick’s On-Site Detailing, which has created jobs for young people working to save for school and build their own futures. In 2022, Nick was recognized as the youngest-ever Worcester Business Journal 40 Under Forty honoree, and his business was voted Best of Business in 2024. He has also supported local organizations and established two scholarships for Millbury students.

Nick credits his family, educators, mentors, and the community that supported him with instilling the values that continue to guide his life. His Jesuit education reinforced a belief he learned much earlier at home: our success carries a responsibility to serve others.

A proud Eagle Scout from Troop 110 Millbury and a Meals on Wheels driver, Nick has tried to carry that lesson into every part of his life—from business and community involvement to elected office. For Nick, public service isn’t about holding a title. It’s about being present, listening, and leaving your community stronger than you found it.
